Carl Andre ha trasformato una superficie orizzontale in scultura, svelando l’autoreferenzialità dell’Arte. Adriano D’Angelo ha fotografato una superficie orizzontale, svelando il solipsismo dell’artista.

La descrizione che l’artista fa del lavoro esposto rimanda al suo vissuto: “La pavimentazione esterna della mia casa, realizzata sul finire degli anni 70, le sue rughe, le tracce del tempo che passa, l'indeterminatezza del mio sguardo, i ricordi che affollano la mia mente....”

Le sensazioni personali trasformano una superficie inerte in uno spazio denso di segni in cui il medium fotografico segna il limite tra l’immagine reale e la sua trasfigurazione in altro da sé, introducendo il concetto dell’ambiguità del reale e rivelandosi come il principale fattore di discontinuità e di rottura con il mondo che ci circonda.

Darkness Lines è un lavoro che definisce il confine incerto tra ciò che pensiamo e ciò che vediamo.

L’esposizione, ideata per la manifestazione “Fotografia Europea sezione Off”, presenta anche un altro lavoro intimamente connesso alla serie fotografica sopra descritta e che fa della frammentazione la ragione della sua esistenza.

“People” è un’installazione fotografica che nasce dal desiderio dell’artista di visitare una mostra e avere la possibilità di toccare e impossessarsi di un “pezzo” di qualche lavoro esposto. L’artista chiarisce: “ …L’appropriazione, da parte del pubblico, è un’operazione che mi interessa.
Ho pensato di donare questo lavoro, in cui chiunque voglia può appropriarsi di una delle 210 foto 10x15 cm. che compongono un pannello di 1,70 x 2,10 metri.”

L’immagine fotografica è destinata a sopravvivere solo nei suoi frammenti. Ogni foto/frammento riporta il numero di posizione e la firma dell’artista sul retro.
L’opera è ridondante nei suoi contenuti: raffigura una folla di persone ed è fatta per diventare proprietà di quelle stesse persone.

The description, that the artist does about artwork, refers to his life:"…The pavement outside my house, built in the late 70s, her wrinkles, the traces of time passing, the vagueness of my eyes, the memories that crowd my mind ...."

The personal feelings transform inert surface into a space full of signs by which the photographic medium marks the boundary between the real image and its transfiguration into something other than itself, by introducing the concept of the ambiguity of reality and revealing itself as the main discontinuity factor and rupture with the world around us.

Darkness Lines is a work that defines the uncertain border between what we think and what we see.
The exhibition, thought for the event "European Photography Section Off", also has another work closely related to the photographic series described above and which make by the fragmentation the reason for its existence.

“People” is an photographic installation which arises from the artist desire to visit an exhibition and have the opportunity to touch and get a “piece” of some exposed workers. The artist explains: “... the appropriation, by the people, is a project that interests me. I thought giving this work, by which anyone may to get one of 210 photos (dimensions 10x15 cm. each) put on a panel of 1.70 x 2.10 meters.”

The photographic image is destined to survive in its fragments. Every photo / fragment have to the position number and the signature of the artist on the back.
The work is redundant in its contents: it represents a crowd of people and is done for becoming ownership of those same people.
